Abstract

An office building construction has a plurality of floor areas disposed one above the other, said floor areas defined by boundary walls comprising front and rear walls and left and right end areas. The right end area comprises an entrance area in communication with each floor area of the office building and the area external of the office building.

Description

The present invention relates to an office building construction.

According to the present invention there is provided an office building construction having a plurality of floor areas disposed one above the other, said floor areas defined by boundary walls comprising front and rear walls and left and right end areas, wherein the right end area comprises an entrance area in communication with each floor area of the office building and the area external of the office building.

Preferably, the left end area of a floor area higher than the ground floor comprises an open recreational area defined by boundary walls comprising the outer wall of a lower floor area and the outer wall of said higher floor area, the outer wall of the higher floor area being recessed from the outer wall of the lower floor area.

An embodiment of the invention will now be described, by way of example, with reference to and as illustrated in the accompanying drawing, which is a plan view of a first floor of an office building construction according to the invention.

IE 930329 - 2 Referring now to the drawing, there is shown an office building construction generally indicated at 10 according to the invention. The office building 10 comprises five floor areas 9 disposed one above the other, each floor area 9 being defined by front and rear walls 11,12 and left and right end areas 13,14 respectively.

The left end area 13 comprises an open recreational area 29 which is defined between an outer wall 19, corresponding to the outer wall of the ground floor, and a recessed inner wall 19' corresponding to the outer wall of the first and subsequent floors. A stairwell 23 emerging within the recreational area 29, provides access to the recreational area 29 from the ground floor, not shown. The left end area 13 further comprises a special purpose common room 25 and a large storage area 21 both of which communicate with the recreational area 29 and the floor area 9.

The right end area 14 comprises an octagonal shaped atrium 27, which communicates with each of the five floor areas 9 through a series of elevators 26 located adjacent the side 15 between the rear and left side of the atrium 27. A stairwell 23 is provided adjacent the elevators 26 for immediate communication between floor area 9 and for emergency evacuation. The atrium 27 functions as an entrance area providing communication with the area external of the office building 10 through the side 16 between the front and right sides of the atrium 27. The right end area 14 further comprises a pair of general purpose large rooms 24 juxtaposed adjacent the sides 17,18 located between the right and rear sides and the left and front sides of the atrium 27 respectively.

IE 930329 - 3 The rear wall 12 includes a stairwell 23 disposed mid-way between left and right end areas 13,14 respectively. The front wall 11 includes two stairwells 23 adjacent respective left and right end area 13,14.

The floor area 9 comprises washroom facilities 22 disposed adjacent the right end area 14. Office groups comprising a plurality of offices 20 are disposed in the centre of the floor area 9 and adjacent the front and rear walls 11,12 respectively. The remainder of the right hand side of the floor area 9 comprises large general purpose rooms 24 which may comprises groups of workstation modules W. The left hand side of the floor area 9 comprises a group of special purpose common rooms located between front and rear walls 11,12 respectively. The remainder of the floor area 9 comprises an open plan area 28 which includes groups of workstation modules W located adjacent front and rear walls 11,12 respectively.

Claims (3)

1. An office building construction having a plurality 5 of floor areas disposed one above the other, said floor areas defined by boundary walls comprising front and rear walls and left and right end areas, wherein the right end area comprises an entrance area in communication with each floor area of the office 10 building and the area external of the office building.

An office building construction as claimed in claim 1 wherein the left end area of a floor area higher than the ground floor comprises an open recreational area 15 defined by boundary walls comprising the outer wall of a lower floor area and the outer wall of said higher floor area, the outer wall of the higher floor area being recessed from the outer wall of the lower floor area. 20
