Description
An Office Building Construction
The present invention relates to an office building construction.
According to the invention there is provided an office building construction comprising a plurality of floor areas disposed one above the other, each floor area comprising two substantially oblong areas disposed transversely to one another and communicating with one another via a curved area having radial walls which adjoin the adjacent respective walls of the oblong areas.
Preferably, the oblong areas are disposed at an angle of ninety degrees to one another.
Further preferably, the oblong areas communicate via their respective shortest walls.
- An embodiment of the invention will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein similar numerals are used to indicate corresponding elements in both drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a plan view of a ground floor of an office building construction according to the invention; and
Figures 2 is a plan view of a first floor of an office building construction which is disposed above the ground floor of Figure 1;
Referring now to the drawings, there is shown therein an office building construction comprising at least two floor areas (Figures 1 and 2) supported one above the other in a conventional manner. Each floor area 10 is defined by two oblong areas 11,12 disposed at 900 to one another. The oblong areas 11,12 are connected by a curved region 13.
The oblong areas 11,12 are defined by longer parallel walls 16,17 and shorter walls 14,15. The shorter walls 14,15 communicate with a curved region 13 through passageways 22, disposed between the radial walls 18,19 of the circular segment and walls 14 of the respective oblong areas. These passageways are enclosed at either end by doors 20,21.
Advantageously, a stairwell 25 may be located in the area 13' connecting one oblong area 12 to the curved area 13. Also an elevator 90 may be provided in this area.
Similarly, the area 13' between the oblong area 11 and the circular segment 13 may contain a set of lavatory and washroom facilities 26,27 accessible through doors 29 on the passageway 22.
The oblong area 12 contains a variety of office spaces accessible from a corridor 30 running the length of the oblong area 12. A corresponding corridor 30' runs along the length of the first floor oblong area 11.
Advantageously walls 17 are glazed to provide for a maximum attainable of ambient light to these offices.
The office area may comprise a mixture of open plan workstation groups 38 comprising individual workstations 38' separated by partitions 39 as well as enclosed offices 40. Also storage cabinets 70 may be positioned in groups or individually around this area to give easy access to information required throughout the office area.
A stairwell 28 is also provided adjacent one wall 15 of the oblong area 12 remote from the central segment 13.
The oblong area 11 encloses a substantially free area 50 to allow for storage of goods. Service doors 31 on wall 15 remote from the central segment are provided to allow the easiest access to the space 50 for loading and unloading.
The circular segment 13 has steps 60 along its circumference leading to the main entrance comprising both revolving and normal doors 61,62 respectively. These in turn give access to the reception area 63 from where one can be directed easily to any part of the building.
The passageway 64 on the first floor of the building does not extend over the full reception area 63 and renders an added appearance of spaciousness.
Fire exits 80 are also provided through out the building.
The invention is not limited to the embodiments described herein which may be modified or varied without departing from the scope of the invention.
