Abstract

An office building construction (10) comprising a floor area (12) defined by front, rear, left and right side walls (13, 14, 15, 16). The floor area (12) has a plurality of corridors (18, 19, 20, 21) running substantially parallel to the rear wall 14 and a plurality of corridors (22) running substantially parallel to the left and right side walls (15, 16). The remainder of the floor area (12) includes an office (26) and a plurality of workstation modules (17) located between the corridors (18, 19, 20, 21, 22). The workstation modules (17) are arranged in substantially rectangular workstation groups (27).

Description

The present Invention relates to an office building construction.

According to the present invention there is provided an office building construction comprising a floor area defined by front and rear and left and right side walls, said floor area having a plurality of corridors running substantially parallel to said rear wall and a plurality of corridors running substantially parallel to said left and right side walls, the remainder of said floor area including an office and a plurality of workstation modules located between said corridors.

Preferably, a communication means is provided in at least one of said walls.

More preferably, said workstation modules are disposed to form a plurality of substantially rectangular workstation groups.

Advantageously, said office is located substantially in the centre of said floor area.

An embodiment of the invention will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawing which is a plan view of an office building construction according to the invention.

Referring now to the drawings, there is shown an office building construction generally indicated at 10 according to the invention. The office building 965653 construction 10 comprises a substantially rectangular floor area 12 defined by a front, rear, left and right side walls 13, 14, 15 and 16 respectively.

A major corridor 18 is located adjacent the rear wall 14 and runs from the left side wall 15 to the right side wall 16. Similarly, a second major corridor 19 is located adjacent the front wall 13 and runs substantially along the length of the floor area 12 from the left side wall 15 to the right side wall 16. Two further major corridors 20, 21 run substantially along the length of the floor area 12 from the left side wall 15 to the right side wall 16. The corridors 20, 21 are substantially evenly spaced between and parallel to the corridors 18 and 19.

A plurality of minor corridors 22 run between each pair of adjacent major corridors 18 and 21, 19 and 20, 20 and 21. Each minor corridor 22 runs substantially parallel to the left side and right side walls 15, 16.

The front, rear and right side walls 13, 14, 16 are each provided with a doorway 23, 24 and 25 respectively. The building construction 10 can thus communicate with other adjacent building constructions (not shown).

An office 26 is located substantially in the centre of the floor area 12 between the major corridors 20 and 21 and between two adjacent minor corridors 22.

The remainder of the floor area 12 is occupied by a plurality of workstation groups 27. Each workstation group 27 comprises a plurality of workstation modules 17. The workstation modules 17 within each workstation group 27 are separated by a plurality of partition members 28. Each partition member 28 is disposed substantially parallel to either the rear wall 14 or the side walls 15, 16. Within a workstation group 27, the workstation modules 17 are arranged so that the group 27 is substantially rectangular in shape. Typically, a workstation group 27 comprises four, six or twelve workstation modules 17.

The corridors 18, 19, 20, 21 and 22 enable the workstation groups 27 to communicate readily with one another and with the office 26.

Claims (5)

CLAIMS: it

1. An office building construction comprising a floor β area defined by front and rear and left and right side 5 walls, said floor area having a plurality of corridors running substantially parallel to said rear wall and a plurality of corridors running substantially parallel to said left and right side walls, the remainder of said floor area including an office and a plurality of 10 workstation modules located between said corridors.

2. An office building construction as claimed in claim 1, in which a communication means is provided in at least one of said walls.

3. An office building construction as claimed in claim 1 or 2 in which said workstation modules are disposed to form a plurality of substantially rectangular workstation groups.

4. An office building construction as claimed in any of claims 1, 2 or 3 in which said office is located substantially in the centre of said floor area. 25
