Abstract

An office building construction (10) comprising a floor area (12) is defined by front and rear and left and right side walls (13, 14, 15 and 16 respectively). The floor area (12) has a plurality of corridors (18, 21) running substantially parallel to the front wall (13) and a plurality of corridors (19, 20, 23) running substantially perpendicular to the front wall (13). The floor area (12) includes means for communicating with other overlying floor areas (not shown). The remainder of the floor area (12) includes a plurality of offices (27, 28) and a plurality of workstation modules (17) located between and around said corridors (18, 19, 20, 21 and 23).

Description

An Office Building Construction The present invention relates to an office building construction.
According to the present invention there is provided an office building construction comprising a floor area defined by front and rear and left and right side walls, said floor area having a plurality of corridors running substantially parallel to said front wall and a plurality of corridors running substantially perpendicular to said front wall, said floor area including means for communicating with other overlying and underlying floor areas, the remainder of said floor area including a plurality of offices and a plurality of workstation modules located between and around said corridors.
Preferably, means are provided in at least two of said walls for communicating with adjacent floor areas.
More preferably, said workstation modules are disposed to form a plurality of substantially rectangular workstation groups.
An embodiment of the invention will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawing which is a plan view of an office building construction according to the invention.
Referring now to the drawing, there is shown an office building construction generally indicated at 10 according to the invention. The office building - 2 565656 construction 10 comprises a substantially rectangular floor area 12 defined by a front, rear, left and right side walls 13, 14, 15 and 16 respectively.
A row 22 of workstation modules 17 are located adjacent the front wall 13 and extend from the left side wall 15 to the right side wall 16.
A minor corridor 19 runs substantially along the length of and parallel to the left side wall 15. Similarly, a second minor corridor 20 runs substantially along the length of and parallel to the right side wall 16.
A major corridor 18 is located adjacent the rear wall 14 and runs from the left side wall 15 to the right side wall 16. Three further major corridors 21 run between the minor corridors 19, 20 and are substantially parallel to the front and rear walls 13, 14. The corridors 21 are substantially evenly spaced between the major corridor 18 and the row 22 of workstations 17.
A further minor corridor 23 connects the major corridors 21. The corridor 23 is located at substantially the midpoint of the corridors 21 and runs substantially parallel to the left and right side walls 15, 16.
A stairwell 24 is located between, and at substantially the midpoint of, the corridors 18 and 21. Thus, the floor area 12 can communicate with overlying and underlying floor areas (not shown). The left and right side walls 15, 16 are each provided with a doorway 25 and 26 respectively. The office building construction 10 can thus communicate with other adjacent building constructions (not shown).
Two offices 27 are located between two adjacent corridors 21 and adjacent the corridor 23. A third office 28 is located between the corridor 18 and the adjacent corridor 21 and adjacent the stairwell 24.
The remainder of the floor area 12 is occupied by' a plurality of workstation groups 29. Each workstation group 29 comprises a plurality of workstation modules 17. The workstation modules 17 within each workstation group 29 are separated by a plurality of partition members 30. Each partition member 30 is disposed substantially parallel to either the rear wall 14 or the side walls 15, 16. Within a workstation module 29, the workstation modules 17 are arranged so that the group 29 is substantially rectangular in shape. Typically, a workstation group may comprise from two up to ten workstation modules 17.
The corridors 18, 19, 20, 21 and 23 enable the workstation groups 29 communicate readily with one another and with the offices 27 and 28.
