Abstract
An office building construction comprises a floor area (9) defined by a first and a second set of blocks (11, 14). Each set of blocks comprises two blocks (12, 13, 15, 16) disposed at right angles to one another and intersecting substantially near one common corner (17, 18). The first set of blocks is spaced apart from the second set of blocks to define passageways (21, 22) running between each set of blocks.
Description
An Office Building Construction
The present, invention relates to an office building construction.
According to the present invention there is provided an office building construction comprising a floor area defined by a first and a second set of blocks, each set of blocks comprising two blocks disposed at right angles to one another and intersecting substantially near one common comer, the first set of blocks being spaced apart from the second set of blocks to define passageways running between each set of blocks.
Preferably, at least one block in each set of blocks includes a stairwell.
An embodiment of the invention will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawing which is a plan view of an office building construction according to the invention.
Referring now to the drawing, there is shown an office building construction generally indicated at 10 according to the invention. The office building 10 comprises a reverse L-shaped floor area 9 defined ' between a block 11 formed from a first set of oblong front and right side blocks 12 and 13 and a block 14 * formed from a second set of oblong front and right side blocks 15 and 16 respectively.
Each set of blocks 12, 13 and 15, 16 intersect adjacent a respective corner 17, 18. Stairwells 20 are provided in each block 12, 14 adjacent the respective corners 17 and 18.
A passageway 21 runs parallel to and between the front blocks 12 and 15. The passageway 21 intersects a further passageway 22 which runs parallel to and between the right side blocks 13 and 16. Because the blocks 12 and 13 intersect only at the corner 17, the area of the floor area 9 around the point of intersection of the passageways 21 and 22 is substantially increased allowing further offices 24 to be located in this area when required.
The passageways 21 and 22 further provide access to offices 23 located within the front and side blocks 12, 13, 15 and 16.
Claims (3)
1. An office building construction comprising a floor area defined by a first and a second set of blocks, each 5 set of blocks comprising two blocks disposed at right angles to one another and intersecting substantially near one common corner, the first set of blocks being spaced apart from the second set of blocks to define passageways running between each set of blocks.
2. An office building construction as claimed in Claim l, wherein at least one block in each set of blocks includes a stairwell. 15
3. An office building construction substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawing.
