Abstract

The invention provides an office building construction comprising a building structure having a plurality of floor areas 90 disposed one above the other, said floor areas defined by boundary walls comprising front and rear walls 10, 11 and left and right side walls 12, 13. Each floor area has a plurality of rooms 18, 18' situated in the corners of said boundary walls and a plurality of workstation groups 19 located along each of said boundary walls. A central oblong area 91 is defined by inner front and rear walls 14, 15 and inner left and right side walls 16, 17, said oblong area comprising access means 52, 61 to at least one stairwell 50, 51. <IMAGE>

Description

AN OFFICE BUILDING CONSTRUCTION The present invention relates to an office building construction.

According to the invention there is provided an office building construction comprising a building structure having a plurality of floor areas disposed one above the other, said floor areas defined by boundary walls comprising front and rear walls and left and right side walls, each floor area having a plurality of rooms situated in the corners of said boundary walls and a plurality of workstation groups located along each of said boundary walls and a central oblong area defined by inner front and rear walls and inner left and right side walls, said oblong area comprising access means to at least one stairwell.

Preferably, the left and right side walls of the central oblong area comprise two core walls of the building.

An embodiment of the invention will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 is a plan view of a second floor of an office building construction according to the invention; and Figures 2 to 5 are plan views of a third, fourth, fifth and sixth floors of an office building construction which are disposed above the second floor of Figure 1; Referring now to the drawings, there is shown therein an office building construction comprising at least five floor areas (Figures 1 to 5) supported one above the other in a conventional manner. The floor areas 90 are defined by boundary walls comprising front and rear walls 10,11 respectively and left and right side walls 12,13 respectively.

Each floor area 90 has a plurality of rooms 18 located at each of the corners of walls 10,11,12 and 13 some of which have adjacent rooms 18' of equal or smaller size.

The remainder of the periphery of each floor is occupied by a plurality of workstation groups 19 each comprising a number of workstation units 19' defined by partition members 20.

Each floor area 90 has a central oblong area 91 defined by inner front and rear walls 14,15 respectively and inner left and right side walls 16,17 respectively which are parallel to their boundary wall counterparts.

Two core walls 30 are provided parallel to both left and right side walls 16,17 defining a space 35 which may be divided into a number of rooms 35'. These rooms 35' are accessible through doors or entry ports 36 on front or rear corridors, 40,41 respectively, which together with left and right side corridors, 42,43 respectively, form a passageway defined between the peripheral offices 18,18' and workstation groups 19 and the central oblong area 91.

Two stairwells 50,51 are constructed adjacent left and right inner side walls 16,17 respectively. Stairwell 50 is accessible through doors 52 while stairwell 51 is accessible through doors 53 leading onto a passageway 60 leading from the front to the rear side of the building via doors 61. Doors 62 in the left hand corners of this passageway lead to washroom facilities 70.

Claims

1. An office building construction comprising a building structure having a plurality of floor areas disposed one above the other, said floor areas defined by boundary walls comprising front and rear walls and left and right side walls, each floor area having a plurality of rooms situated in the corners of said boundary walls and a plurality of workstation groups located along each of said boundary walls and a central oblong area defined by inner front and rear walls and inner left and right side walls, said oblong area comprising access means to at least one stairwell.

2. An office building construction as claimed in claim 1 in which the left and right side walls of the central oblong area comprise two core walls of the building.

3. An office building construction substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to and as illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
