Description

The present invention relates to an office building construction.

According to the present invention there is provided an office building construction having a plurality of floor areas supported one above the other, the floor areas being defined by front and rear and left and right side boundary walls, each floor area comprising a plurality of office areas located adjacent said boundary walls and a plurality of universally accessible facilities located towards the centre of each respective floor area, wherein a plurality of workstation modules are located in the space defined between said office areas and said universally accessible facilities.

Preferably, the universally accessible facilities include means for communicating between floor areas.

Further preferably, the universally accessible facilities include washroom facilities. - 2 An embodiment of the invention will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 is a plan view of a ground floor of an office building construction according to the invention; and Figure 2 is a plan view of the first floor of the office building construction of Figure 1 of the drawings.

Referring now to the drawings, there is shown an office building construction generally indicated at 10 according to the invention. The office building 10 comprises a plurality floor areas 9, two of which are illustrated in respective Figures 1 and 2, defined by front and rear walls 11 and 12 and left and right side walls 13 and 14 respectively.

The floor areas 9 are supported above one another by a plurality of piles 15 disposed about the centre of the floor areas 9 and a plurality of piles 16 located in the corners between the boundary walls 11, 12, 13 and 14. Also, a plurality of piles 17, 17’ are located between the piles 16 along the length of the boundary walls 11, 12, 13 and 14.

Two piles 16' are disposed, spaced apart from one another, along a mid-portion of the front wall 11, Figure 1. Two further piles 16 are disposed externally of the building in parallel spaced apart relationship with the piles 16'. The piles 16 traverse all the floors of the building 10 and support portions of the upper floor areas 9 which overhang the section of the front wall 11 between the piles 16'.

Access to the building 10 is provided through entrance doors 19 disposed between the piles 16’ and which communicate with a main reception area 21. Communication between the respective floor areas 9 is provided by a stairwell 23 located in the centre of the floor area 9 adjacent the reception area 21. An auxiliary stairwell 23 is also provided adjacent the right side wall 14, while an elevator 26 is located towards the left side wall 13.

Within the floor areas 9 of the office building 10, a plurality of offices 20 are located adjacent the boundary walls 11, 12, 13 and 14. Further, a plurality of conference facilities 24 are located adjacent the corners of the boundary walls 11, 12, 13 and 14, with larger conference facilities 24 having adjacent projection rooms 24·, Figure 2.

Washroom facilities 22, as well as other general purpose universally accessible facilities 25 such as stores, canteen or copying facilities, are disposed towards the centre of the floor areas 9. Groups of workstation modules W are located In the space defined between the offices 20 and the facilities 22 and 25.

Claims

1. An office building construction having a plurality of floor areas supported one above the other, the floor areas being defined by front and rear and left and right side boundary walls, each floor area comprising a plurality of office areas located adjacent said boundary walls and a plurality of universally accessible facilities located towards the centre of each respective floor area, wherein a plurality of workstation modules are located in the space defined between said office areas and said universally accessible facilities.

2. An office building construction as claimed in Claim 1, wherein the universally accessible facilities include means for communicating between floor areas.

3. An office building construction as claimed in Claim 1, wherein the universally accessible facilities include washroom facilities.

4. An office building construction substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
