Abstract

Description

The present invention relates to an office building.

According to the present invention there is provided an office building having a floor area enclosed by three contiguous outer walls and a plurality of adjacent industrial facilities, said office building including a plurality of corridors linked to define a circuit within the office building, the office building further comprising offices of various size and configuation, said offices and said industrial facilities being easily accessible from said corridors.

Preferably each of said corridors terminates at least at one end at an outer wall, said ends being provided with exit doors.

Preferably said corridors are further divided by sets of fire doors.

Preferably the office building includes washroom facilities which are easily accessible from said corridors.

IE 922820 - 2 An embodiment of the invention will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawing whose single figure is a plan view of a ground floor of an office building according to the invention.

Referring now to the drawing, there is shown an office building generally indicated at 10 according to the invention. The office building 10 comprises side boundary walls 11 and 12 extending a right angles away from a main entrance 66. Boundary wall 13 meets side wall 11 at corner 15. Windows 14 are spaced periodically along walls 11,12 and 13. A plurality of adjacent factory or environmentally controlled areas 62 are located spaced apart from and opposite wall 11. A large storage facility 61 is provided adjacent wall 13 adjacent areas 62. Boundary walls 11,12 and 13 and areas 61,62 enclose an office space 90.

The main entrance 66 communicates with the rest of the building through a reception area 65. Two corridors 91 and 92 extend away from the reception area 65, parallel to walls 11 and 12 respectively. Exit doors 63 and 63' are located on walls 12,13 at the end of corridors 92,91 respectively and give easily accessible means of escape in case of emergency.

Corridors 93,94 run at right angles to walls 11, 12 respectively meeting at a comer 12. Sets of exit doors 63,63 are located on walls 11,12 respectively at opposite ends of corridors 93,94 respectively. Corridors 91,92,93,94 are further divided by sets of fire doors 64. Corridors 91,92,93 and 94 define a continuous circuit around the building 10 from which most of IE 922820 - 3 the office space 90 around the building can be accessed.

The office space 90 comprises numerous office groups. The largest office 18, a large meeting room facility 17 and a secretarial facility 17' adjoining the meeting room 17 are all located close to the reception area 65.

Other large meeting rooms 17 are located in a central portion of the office space 90. A smaller meeting room 16 is also provided adjacent the reception area 65 as an alternative to the larger rooms 17.

Slightly smaller offices 19/19’ are also provided along corridor 91. Medium sized offices 20 are located between walls 11 and 12 and corridors 91 and 92 respectively. Smaller sized offices 21 are dispersed throughout the building, either singly or in groups. Rooms 21' may be provided as storerooms or secure passageways to other larger rooms.

Groups of open plan offices 22 are located either singly or in groups around the building. Groups 22 comprise a plurality of tables 23 separated by partitions 22'.

Changing room facilities 42 are provided outside factory areas 62. Male and female washroom facilities 40,41 respectively are located adjacent the changing room facilities 42. Similar washroom facilities are also located in a central portion of the office space 90.

IE 922820 - 4 Traffic between the office space 90 and the storage facility 61 is controlled through an ante-room 21' which is located adjacent corridor 93 and the storage facility 61. A similar room 21’ is located adjacent corridor 93 and factory facility 62 and controls traffic between the office space 90 and the factory space 62.

A loading bay 59 located in wall 13 allows large consignments to be received and stored in the storage 0 facility 61.

Miscellaneous rooms 50 are located around the office space 90 and may be used a stationary store rooms, reprographic facilities or communication rooms.

The invention is not limited to the embodiments described herein which may be modified or varied without departing from the scope of the invention.

Claims (5)

1. . An office building having a floor area enclosed by three contiguous outer walls and a plurality of adjacent 5 industrial facilities, said office building including a plurality of corridors linked to define a circuit within the office building, the office building further comprising offices of various size and configuation, said offices and said industrial facilities being easily 10 accessible from said corridors.

2. An office building as claimed in claim 1 wherein each of said corridors terminates at least at one end at an outer wall, said ends being provided with exit doors.

3. An office building as claimed in claim 2 wherein said corridors are further divided by sets of fire doors. 20

4. An office building as clained in claim 3 further including washroom facilities which are easily accessible from said corridors.
