Abstract

972,065. Photographic transfer-reversal procedure. KODAK Ltd. Jan. 26, 1961 [Jan. 28 1960], No. 3043/60. Heading G2C. A sheet material comprises a layer containing (a) development nuclei or nuclei-forming substances, (b) a silver halide solvent, (c) a blueblack toning agent and (d) an addition compound formed from a bisulphite and an aldehyde or a ketone. The agent (c) may be any of those of Specifications 861,255, 972,062, 972,063 or 972,064 and the purpose of (d) is to shorten the time of toning therewith, positive transfer images resulting from a contact time with the negative emulsion layer of the order of 5 to 10 seconds only. In an example the sheet is of paper having a gelatin layer containing colloidal silver sulphide, hypo 5, 5-dimethyl- 4-thiohydantoin and sodium formaldehyde bisulphite with, additionally, baryta and free formaldehyde: negative emulsion and developer for use therewith are quoted. The process may be operated similarly with agent (c)present otherwise than in the receiving sheet, and variations of procedure of customary nature are indicated.
