Abstract
1,246,348. Photographic materials for silver salt diffusion transfer. EASTMAN KODAK CO. May 16, 1969 [May 17, 1968], No. 25121/69. Heading G2C. An integral material for silver salt diffusion transfer processes comprises a support, a layer containing silver precipitating nuclei and a hardened colloid, and a silver halide emulsion layer containing cyanoethylated gelatine. The nuclei-containing layer preferably contains a hardened gelatine as the colloidor a gelatine layer containing a hardener may be coatedbetween thenucleicontaining gelatine layer and the emulsion layer so that the nuclei-containing layer becomes hardened. The material may be imagewise exposed, developed in the presence of a silver halide solvent and the emulsion layer is washed off to leave a positive image in the nuclei-layer; the cyanoethylated gelatine being unaffected by the hardener and being easily removed. The gelatine may be directly cyanoethylated with acrylonitride (as in Specification 649, 548) or may be partially deaminated (as in Specification 628, 757) before cyanoethylation. A gelatine layer may be applied over the silver halide emulsion layer. The silver halide emulsion used may be a positive- or a negativedeveloping silver halide emulsion.
