1,054,252. Silver salt diffusion transfer process. GEVAERT PHOTO-PRODUCTEN N. V. Aug.6, 1963 [Aug.3, 1962], No.30988/63. Heading G2C. A silver salt diffusion transfer process comprising image-wise exposing a silver halide emulsion overcoated with a water-permeable layer and contacting the exposed material with an image-receiving material comprising a support and a layer containing a binder and a filler in the presence of a developer, a silver halide solvent and an alkaline processing liquid and then separating the materials. The water-permeable layer may contain a cellulose or starch ether, starch, gum tragacanth, polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl pyrrolidone, polyoxyethylene, polyacrylic acid, polyacrylamide or methyl vinyl ether/maleic acid copolymer. The image-receiving material may contain development nuclei such as cobalt sulphide as well as the filler which may be barium sulphate, kaolin or titanium dioxide and the binder such as gelatin, casein, polystyrene, butadiene/ styrene copolymer, vinyl chloride/vinylidene chloride copolymer or vinyl alkyl ether/maleic anhydride copolymer.
