956,368. Photographic processes. KODAK Ltd. Aug. 12, 1960 [Aug. 14, 1959], No. 27985/60. Heading G2C. A photographic developerwhich produces direct positives from exposed silver halide emulsion layers in a one-bath reversal process comprises a silver halide developing agent and an alkali metal selenocyanide. The developing agent may be hydroquinone, chlorohydroquinone, an alkyl-substituted hydroquinone, a p-aminophenol or a 3-pyrazolidone. The developing solutions may comprise stabilizers such as sodium sulphite or sodium is oascorbate, toning compounds such as #;#<SP>1</SP>-dithiasuberic acid and monothioglycerol, and the usual alkaline materials. A migratory transfer process may be carried out in the presence of an alkaline developer solution according to the invention. Photographic images developed according to the invention need not be fixed, but, if desired, they may be fixed by contacting them with a fixing paper prepared by soaking a paper base (which may be coated with gelatin or carboxymethyl cellulose) in an aqueous solution of sodium thioglyceride,thiobarbituric acid or sodium thiobarbiturate,with sufficient liquid between the two surfaces.
