Class 38 (4). The wattage dissipation of a low-pressure discharge lamp, having a substantially constant voltage characteristic, is maintained constant by supplying the lamp through a tetrode valve biased by a cathode resistor so as to pass a substantially constant anode current. The lamp wattage is set by varying the value of the cathode resistor and the screen-grid of the valve is connected to the anode of a gas-filled voltage stabilizing valve.
