882,439. Automatic regulation. ENGELHARD DEVELOPMENT CO. OF CANADA Ltd. April 16, 1958 [Feb. 7, 1957; April 24, 1957], Nos. 11930/57 and 13121/57. Divided out of 818,079. Drawings to Specification. Class 38 (4). The wattage dissipation of a low-pressure discharge lamp, having a substantially constant voltage characteristic, is maintained constant by supplying the lamp through a tetrode valve biased by a cathode resistor so as to pass a substantially constant anode current. The lamp wattage is set by varying the value of the cathode resistor and the screen-grid of the valve is connected to the anode of a gas-filled voltage stabilizing valve.
