Abstract
837,087. Fuel Injection pumps. BESSIERE, P. E. Sept. 19, 1958 [March 1, 1958], No. 30087/58. Class 102(1). A reciprocating pump comprises a main pistor 1 and an auxiliary pistor 8, which acts as a thrust member, actuated by a rotary cam 3. Liquid entering the auxiliary cylinder 9 is pumped past non-return valve 12 and conduit 15 to a gas loaded pressure accumulator chamber 14 and liquid from this chamber flows to the main cylinder 2 by conduits 13a, 13. The conduit 13a extends to a level below the lowest filling level N of the chamber 14 and liquid delivered to this chamber can rise to a level N<SP>1</SP> the surplus liquid being by-passed through a non-return valve 16 to the casing 20 and serves to lubricate the driving mechanism. The cam follower roller 18 is preferably provided with flanges 18a to prevent rotation of the pistons.
