Abstract
927,661. Fuel injection pumps. P. E. BESSIERE. Oct. 19, 1961 [Oct. 27, 1960], No. 37488/61. Class 102(1). In a fuel injection pump in which the discharge is regulated by a shuttle valve 9 controlling a by-pass port 8 and reciprocated hydraulically in synchronism with the piston 1 by a piston 11, the chambers 10, 12 are in communication with a variable volume chamber 13 the volume of which is varied in accordance with the speed of operating of the pump. The volume of the chamber 13 is varied by a piston 14 which, as shown, is moved against the action of a variable pressure spring 27 by liquid from an engine driven pump 16 the pressure from which varies in accordance with speed; alternatively the piston 14 may be moved by a centrifugal governor.
