Abstract

836,470. Stop motion for twisting machines. PRINCE-SMITH & STELLS Ltd. Aug. 1, 1958 [Sept. 2 1957], No. 27555/57. Class 120(2) A textile twisting machine has a detector for each of two or more single yarns A, B to be twisted together and for the combined yarn and a balance member 21 which releases a catch 24 when any detector is actuated by reduced tension or breakage of a yarn; the catch 24, when released, is rocked by a moving part 41 of the machine and releases spring-loaded means 37 for interrupting the delivery roller drive, for stopping the spindle-driving motor and for applying brake to the spindle. The yarns A, B each pass through a pivoted detector 19 to the delivery roller 12 and the combined yarn then passes through the detector 13. Upon slackening of the tension of a yarn a detector 19 impinges against an off-set 211 to rock the members 21. The catch 24 mounted on a lever 25 is released and impinges against one of pegs 41 carried on the delivery roller sleeve 27 and is thrown into the position shown in full lines in Fig. 5. The lever 25 then disengages the spring-loaded rod 37 which actuates a switch 44 to break the circuit of the spindle-driving motor 18 and operates the spring-loaded scissor brake 45 to stop the spindle. The rod 37 is pivoted to a bell crank lever 38 with bowl 40 which rotates to declutch the sleeve 27 from the roller drive at 32, 33 and also moves an abutment 35 of the roller 12 into engagement with a radial arm 34 on a fixed spindle 28 to stop rotation of the roller. Upon slackening of the tension of the combined yarn, the detector 13 lowers a lever 47 pivoted to it, and the part 22 of the lever 47 rocks the cradle 21 to stop the machine as above.
