Abstract
960,320. Spinning &c. frames; stop motions. ETABLISSEMENTS PAIN-BOURGEAS. July 27, 1962 [Dec. 8, 1961], No. 28909/62. Heading D1D. In a spinning &c. frame comprising belt-driven rotary spindles, each spindle has a roller for moving the belt out of driving contact with it which is carried by a movable support coupled to a member adapted to be rotated coaxially with the spindle between inoperative and operative positions by the kinetic energy of the rotating spindle through a friction device which serves at the same time to brake the spindle and which is actuated by a stopmotion unit. The wharve of each spindle terminates in a housing for a disc 101, Fig. 7, of magnetic material secured to studs 103 slidable in aperture 104 and having springs 105 which urge the disc upwardly in the housing. Each spindle has a roller 114 mounted on a plate 112 carrying a member 102 of magnetic material housing a winding 106 and a friction block 107. When the winding is energized the disc is attracted to the block whereby the spindle is braked, but before it comes to rest the momentum of the spindle causes the disc to rotate the housing 102 and plate 112 to a position where the roller engages the belt and holds it off the wharve. Properly to position the plate 112, it is is pivotally-connected at 118 to one end of a resilient link 120 the other end of which is pivotally-connected to a fixed stud 121. The link moves over a dead position as the plate rotates, and comprises two cups 126,127 slidably engaging with a spring 129 between them on a rod; one cup being fixed to a threaded part 123 and the other sliding on a smooth part 124 of the rod. To restore the plate to a position where the roller 114 is inactive,a plunger 122 Fig. 8, is adapted to engage and rotate the plate 112. The plunger is normally held out of engagement with the plate by a spring 134; the plunger can be moved to the left until the plate engages a stop 119 by depressing a pedal 143, Fig. 1 against the tension of a spring 149 to rock a stirrup 135 to which the rod is pivoted. The arrangement described is for one in which the spindle rotates in the direction of the arrow, Fig. 8; for a spindle rotating in the opposite direction the pivot 121 is positioned at the other end of a curved slot 115 in a fixed block 116, while a second roller 113, a second plunger 122a and a second stop 119a are provided. The device is applied to a doubling-frame and is operated by a stop-motion sensitive to the failure of the doubled yarn or one of its constituents which also stops and brakes the rollers by which the singles are fed to the spindle. To this end, the winding 106 is included in a circuit, Fig. 10, which also includes windings 72, 74 controlling the feed rollers, a master-switch 84, levers 93-96, and a pallet-switch 86 normally closing a circuit to winding 72. Levers 93, 94 pivot on failure of the singles yarns, and lever 95 pivots when a guide-arm 44 rises on failure of the combined threads. As these levers pivot, they operate the pallet-switch to open the circuit to winding 72 and close that to winding 74. Lever 96 can be manually operated to put the pallet in neutral position for piecing the yarns. The feed rollers comprise an upper roller and a lower canted one arranged as in Figs. 5 and 6, not shown; they are driven by gears meshing with a gear 57, Fig.4 on a shaft 58 on which is slidably keyed a magnetic disc 77 and which is coaxial with a shaft 64 carrying a drum 76 of magnetic material and a gear 65 meshing with a constantly driven gear 66. The windings 72, 74 are in fixed housings 71, 73; when winding 72 is energized, which is its normal condition, the disc 77 is attracted to the drum 76 so that shaft 58 is driven with shaft 64; when winding 74 is energized on failure of a yarn or yarns, the disc is attracted to the fixed housing 73 to brake shaft 58 and stop the rollers. The yarns are fed through the stop-motions unit at the top of Fig. 1, which is a section through a single spindle of a double-sided frame, to a guide 41 from which they travel together around the lower canted roller, around the upper roller, and back around the lower roller to guide arm 44 and a guide 16, whence they travel between balloonrestrictors 15, 14 to a traveller on a ring 12, all of which are carried by a member 11. The latter is carried by posts traversed in brackets 24 as a lever 26 is reciprocated by a rocking shaft 27. A holding-down catch 111 is provided.
