Abstract

800,539. Stop mechanism for yarn twisting machines. BARMER MASCHINENFABRIK A.G. Dec. 5, 1955 [Dec. 4, 1954], No. 34853/55. Class 120(2) A disconnecting device for yarn twisting machines in which a disconnecting lever is operable in response to a slackening in yarn tension to disengage a yarn winding bobbin from a driving roller and to stop a twisting spindle, comprises a rail which can move towards, but not into engagement with, and away from a pressure surface of the disconnecting lever and a two armed yarn detector lever one arm of which is automatically movable in response to a slackening in the yarn tension so that the arm is moved to position a packing member between the pressure surface of the disconnecting lever and the rail thereby to transmit motion from the rail to the disconnecting lever. In the arrangement shown the yarn 1 travels from a double twist twisting spindle 2 through a guide eye 3 and over a guide roller 4 to a winding device consisting of a constantly revolving drive roller 5 and a winding bobbin 6. A U-shaped disconnecting lever 7 is adapted to pivot on a machine frame 8 about a pin 9, and carries a yarn detector 10 at one of its ends and a disconnecting roller or rod 11 at its other end. Should the yarn break the detector 10 swings upwards under the influence of weight 14 and causes a packing member 15 to be inserted between the pressure surface 27 of the disconnecting lever 7 and a reciprocating rail 16 such that when next the rail 16 moves towards the surface 27 the lever 7 is rocked about its pivot 9 causing the disconnecting rod 11 to lift the winding bobbin 6 from the driving roller 5. Movement of the lever 7 also lifts the rod 18 which releases a locking bolt 19 of the base plate 20 of the twisting spindle such that the latter moves away from its driving belt 21 and into contact with the brake surface 23. A retaining device 25 is provided for the detector 10 to assist in the threading up operation.
