Abstract
828,419. Heat treatment furnaces. IPSEN, H. N. July 31, 1958 [Nov. 15, 1957], No. 24732/58. Class 51 (2). In a heat treatment furnace 10 of the forced convection type, a centrifugal fan 18 with angularly-spaced vanes 22 and a driving-shaft 23 extending through the bottom wall 25, is associated with a burner tube 37 having a horizontal section 39 opening into a conical ring 32 disposed immediately above the fan inlet. The fan discharges into a duct 19 below a partition 20 formed with adjustable slots 21 for the passage of atmosphere gas through the rollerway hearth 13 and around the work tray 11. The ring is covered by a pervious screen to prevent articles falling into the fan, around which is a casing 28 directing the gases into said duct 19 around the burner tube 37 to prevent it overheating.
