Abstract
878,686. Metal heating furnaces. INDUGAS GESELLSCHAFT FUR INDUSTRIELLE GASUERWENDING. Sept. 22, 1959 [Oct. 29, 1958], No. 32220/59. Classes 51 (1) and 51 (2). In a furnace for heating metal workpieces without the formation of scale, the end 2 of the furnace at which the primary burners are located is of diffuser shape, and inclined secondary air inlet nozzles or burners 3 are arranged in an inclined part of the furnace roof. The velocities of the primary and secondary air and gas are selected so that the gases from the secondary combustion do not reach the workpieces 5 until they reach a part of the furnace where the temperature is too low for the formation of scale. The furnace roof is so shaped that the radiation from it is directed on to the workpieces 5 while they are enveloped by the gases from the primary combustion. Specification 606,401 is referred to.
