Abstract
1,209,820. Bell-type furnaces. TOKYO GAS CO. Ltd. 11 Dec., 1968 [14 Dec., 1967; 30 Dec., 1967 (2)], No. 58894/68. Heading F4B. In a bell-type furnace, heat-treated material 11 disposed within an inner cover 13, is heated not only from its centre by a radiant tube 8 but also from outside thereof by combustion gas flowing through clearances 15, 18 formed (as shown) between the inner cover 13 and a middle cover 14 and between the middle cover 14 and an outer cover 17 respectively. The combustion gas which is jetted at high speed from a combustion gas outlet 7 of a burner assembly is first introduced into an inner tube 9, being guided down until it reaches the bottom end of the radiant tube 8 where it is forced to change direction by 180 degrees before passing upwardly through a clearance 10. On by-passing the burner assembly, the combustion gas heats a fin 12 thereby pre-heating air and gas flowing into the combustion chamber 6 of the burner assembly. A recirculation fan 24 is used to circulate the atmospheric gas, which enters via inlet 22, to unformalize the temperature distribution in the furnace.
