Abstract
1360628 Cooling gases by direct contact with liquids DECAFIX Ltd 7 July 1972 [30 July 1971] 35879/71 Heading F4K In gas cooling apparatus for cooling hot gas, e.g. from an electric arc furnace or refuse incinerator, a mixture of water heated to a temperature in the range 70-85‹ C. and air heated to a temperature of 400‹ F. is sprayed from one or more depending atomizers 4 into the hot gas stream. The hot gas entering the cooling apparatus via inlet 1 passes through a refractory heat exchange duct 3 having heating coils 8 and 12 located in its refractory wall. Air is fed to the atomizer from a compressor 10 via the heating coil 12 and water is fed to the atomizer by a pump 6 via the heating coil 8. (For Figure see next page.)
