[Also in Group XII] A wire enamelling oven comprises a chamber through which the wire is passed, means for heating the chamber, an atmospheric air entry to the chamber at the end thereof at which the wire is to enter, a main exhaust exit for exhaust fumes from the chamber part way along the course of the wire through the chamber, and adjustable means at or adjacent the air entry to the chamber for producing there an adjustable pressure drop in the oven. A wire-enamelling oven comprises a chamber C with a vertical, horizontal or inclined axis having heating means (not shown) and an exhaust pipe I part way along the course of the wire through the chamber, which pipe leads solvent fumes to a catalyst box A. Part of the treated fumes is exhausted to atmosphere from the box through a blower V 1 and another part is circulated through a blower V 2 and pipe R to a re-injector box D having means P formed of slidable plates to adjustably reduce the flow of air by reducing the cross-section of the air flow into the chamber. The heating means are arranged to heat the part of the chamber between the air entry and exhaust less than the portion of the oven beyond the exhaust.
