Abstract
682,114. Annealing furnaces. WESTFALISCHE DRAKTINDUSTRIE. Aug. 15, 1950 [Nov. 9, 1949], No. 20254/50. Class 51 (ii) In a continuous furnace for annealing wire, strip metal, &c. heating gases from flat burner blocks 3 and 4 extending across the width and near the exit end of a shallow tunnel 1, are drawn by a fan 5 at high speed in counter-current to the wires entering through a slot 8. A damper 7 is provided in the offtake 6 leading to the fan, and the floor of the tunnel may be formed with grooves for individual wires. A modification, Figs. 3 & 4 (not shown), provides a series of separate tubes for each wire extending from the entry slot to the burners and formed with openings for the heating gases below the offtake 6.
