694,854. Heat-treatment furnaces. STRAUB, A. A. Sept. 28, 1949 [Oct. 14, 1948], No. 24896/49. Class 51(ii) [Also in Group II] In an annealing assembly for heat treating coiled metal stock by means of convection currents, the stock C is stacked on trays T of various forms (see Group II) having gas spaces to allow convection currents to heat the coils. A fan F circulates the atmosphere as shown by the arrows, inside a muffle S sealed to prevent ingress of furnace gases, by a sand or liquid seal 11. The atmosphere inside the muffle (or shell) is suitably air.
