562,297. Muffle furnaces. ELECTRIC RESISTANCE FURNACE CO., Ltd., MILLAR, W. J., and MONKS, J. A. Dec. 10, 1942, No. 7661/44. Divided out of Complete Specification of 562,162. [Class 51 (ii)] In a muffle furnace wherein the interior of the furnace, when the door is open, is protected from the.atmosphere by a gaseous screen or curtain issuing from a slot provided exteriorly of and in front of the furnace immediately below the furnace door, the slot 16 is formed between a plate 12, secured to a channel member 13, and a plate 11. The plates also enclose an arched chamber 14 which may form a mixing chamber for air and combustible gases as described in Specification 562,162.
