[Class 51 (ii)] [Also in Group XXVI] In a furnace or other chamber in which material is heated or cooled by an atmosphere circulated by a fan, the atmosphere after leaving the fan is straightened before its passage through the furnace &c. The Figure shows a furnace with heating elements 3 and a casing 4 in which the charge to be treated is supported on a perforated floor 5. A fan 6 circulates air or gases through and around the chamber and the stream of air or gases is straightened by stationary vanes 8 which are mounted on a conical boss 9.
