Abstract
630,154. Electric convector heaters. BERRY, R., and PAINTON, C. A. Jan. 28, 1947, No. 2677. [Class 39(iii)] An electric convector heater is provided in the vicinity of the air inlet openings 5 with heat shields to prevent heat rays striking the floor, the shields comprising two or more sets of inclined louvres 3, 4, the lower set or sets of which are positioned to intercept heat rays which pass through the gaps between the upper louvres. The louvres of each set slope oppositely to those of the next or other set, and air entering the openings follows a zig-zag path and is initially warmed in passing over the louvres. The louvres may be bright or dull and are pressed from sheet metal plates. The heating element 6 may be provided with an outer metal sheath 10 and an inner tube 11, forming two vertical air passages 12. An air jacket 8 prevents overheating of the heater casing 9.
