Abstract

575,248. Heat-treatment furnaces &c. SMITH, J. L. March 11, 1944, No. 4551. [Class 51 (ii)] An oven, stove or furnace is provided with a compartment in which articles to be heated are contained and through which hot air is circulated by one or more fans arranged in the end walls of the compartment, the air being forced into the compartment at one end and withdrawn from the other. As shown in Figs 1 and 2, the compartment 1 has fans 4, 4a arranged in its end walls 3a to circulate air over vertical heating flues 6, 6b through passages 8. The flues 6, 6b have burners at their lower ends and combustion products escape from the upper ends of the flues into outlet flues 7 at each end of the oven &c. The oven &c. may be heated by electricity, steam or hot water. Specification 515,478 is referred to.
