Bakers' ovens.-A baking oven, of the kind having in its walls, cast-iron or other heat accumulating masses 1 formed with recesses 4 to house electric heating elements, is provided with external heating flues which are used alternately to or in conjunction with the electric heaters. As shown, the heating flues 5, 5<1>, arranged below and above the oven, receive from an external furnace 6 hot gases which are caused to traverse a tortuous path in the flues by baffles 7, 7<1>. The gases may escape directly to the chimney or may pass, on their way to the latter, through an airheater, the hot air from which is either used for supporting combustion in the furnace 6, or supplied to the gases entering the flues 5, 5' to lower their temperature. A pivoted-vane damper 9 is arranged immediately below the top of the oven and additional dampers, are provided in the inlets to the flues 5, 5<1>.
