Abstract

928,530. Electric hot-plates. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Aug. 9, 1961 [Aug. 9, 1960], No. 27570/60. Class 39 (3). Air is blown by an impeller 7 through a hotplate 6 consisting of a spiral sheathed-wire type element 1 supported on a stainless steel spider 2 in a spillage bowl 3. A cooking vessel placed on the hot-plate is thus heated by radiation and forced convection. A shield 10 protects the end of the air duct 5 which is provided with a cruciform diffuser 8. A resistance coil may be placed in the duct 5 to preheat the air which may also be collected, after passing over the element 1, and fed back to the impeller 7 for recirculation. A plurality of hot-plates may be fed with air from a common impeller.
