Abstract

552,172. Air conditioning apparatus. SKINNER, G. D., and BENJAMIN ELECTRIC, Ltd. Oct. 13, 1941, No. 13158. [Class 137] Air is drawn by a fan 5 through a filter 18 consisting of oily fabric, is sterilized by ultra-violet radiation from electric discharge lamps 4, and is heated by an electric heater 3 before discharge through a louvred opening 2. An ozonizer, not shown, may also be employed. The lamps are maintained at a temperature of about 75‹ F. by screens or deflectors 16, 17. The windings of the electric motor 6 driving the fan are used to control the discharge lamps whereby the use of inductive chokes is eliminated. In hot weather, the heater is not used, and the device merely recirculates, the Specification 514,377, [Group III], is referred to.
