Abstract
754,461. Unit apparatus. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. Feb. 22, 1954 [March 12, 1953], No. 5199/54. Class 137. [Also in Group XIII] A heating unit for suspending at a suitable height above the flow to radiate heat radially into a room and also discharge a warmed air stream to warm places of the room not effectively heated by the radiation, comprises an incandescent body 1, heated by electricity, or gas, and surrounded by a reflector 2, and a centrifugal fan 3 which draws in air over the heated body 1 and the reflector 2 and discharges the warmed air through a peripheral channel 7 toward the more remote parts of the room. In a modification the radiator body 1 comprises gilled tubing through which room air is drawn by the fan prior to discharge through the channel 7. In a further modification, Fig. 4, radiating plates 9, heated to at least a temperature of 100‹C. by pipes 10 having a heating medium flowing therethrough, are bounded by a channel 11 leading to the fan 3 which draws air from the room over the pipes 10 and along the channel 11, and discharges the warmed air back into the room in the direction of the arrows 7.
