Abstract
An alloy, which has good strength at elevated temperatures and is suitable for use in steam and gas turbines, has the following composition: C 0.1-0.4 per cent, Si 0.1-1.5 per cent, Mn 0.2-2.0 per cent W 1.0-5.0 per cent, Cr 9.0-18.0 per cent, V 0.1-1.0 per cent, Co 1.0-15.0 per cent, Fe the remainder. The alloy may be heat treated for 1-6 hours at 1100 DEG C., cooled to room temperature at the natural cooling rate in still air, re-heated for 4-8 hours at 650 DEG -675 DEG C. and cooled to room temperature in the furnace or in air.
