Abstract
An austenitic iron-base nickel-free alloy, such as for use in gas turbine engines where high stresses and temperatures of up to 1500 DEG F. are encountered, has the following composition by weight:- .C.0,20 to 0,35%, .Mn.10,0 to 15,0%, .Si.0 to 0,75%, .Cr.11,5 to 13,5%, .Mo.2,0 to 3,5%, .V.0,7 to 1,2%, .N.0,1 to 0,3%, .B.0,01 to 0,4%, .impurities (e.g. Cu, Co, P, S).up to 2,0%, ..and Fe as balance The alloy may be solution heat-treated at 2000-2100 DEG F. for 10 min.-6 hrs. followed by rapid quenching, prior to ageing at 1250-1400 DEG F. for 8-30 hrs. and air cooling.
