Abstract

Light-weight iron-base alloys with high impact resistance for use in gas-turbine engines have the following composition by weight:-Mn 20 to 40%, Al 6 to 10%, where there is at least 14% more Mn than Al, C up to 0.1%, with or without up to 4% in all of one or more of the hardening elements Cb, Ni, Co, N, V, Mo, W, Si, Cu, with or without up to 0.5% in all of one or more of the hardening elements B, Ti, Zr, and with Fe and impurities as the balance.
