Abstract

An alloy comprises: .15 to 28% Cr;. .5 to 15% W;. .0.5 to 20% Ta;. .0.01 to 3% Ti;. .0.1 to 1.3% C;. .balance essentially Co. There may also be present one or more of the following: .up to 3% Nb but not exceeding 1/2 Ta;. .up to 3.5% Mo but not exceeding 1/2 W;. .greater than 0.5% Ti, Zr being present, but. .not greater than 3% Ti + Zr,. .or. .not greater than 0.5% Ti, Zr being present,. .but Ti exceeding 70% Zr;. .up to 0.2% B;. .up to 1.5% Si;. .up to 5% Ni or Fe or Ni + Fe.
