Abstract
A nickel base alloy for sheet-welded articles, jet-pipes or extruded lengths has the following composition by weight:- ..Cr.19,0 to 23%, ..Co.12,0 to 25%, ..Mo.3,0 to 8,59%, ..Ti.1,7 to 2,45%, ..Al.0,3 to 0,74%, ..Mn.0,2 to 0,6%, ..Si.0,1 to 0,5%, .with or without.C.0 to 0,06%, ..Fe.0 to 1,0%, ..Zr.0 to 0,5%, ..S.0 to 0,01%, with Ni as the balance apart from impurities and deoxidiser residuals, the "Mo-Ti-Al" factor (i.e. % Mo + 2.% Al + 4.% Ti) being less than 16. Preferably the combined Al + Ti content is from 2,5 to 2,8% and the alloy may be solution-treated at 1060 DEG C.-1180 DEG C. for 10 to 15 minutes and thereafter aged at 700 DEG C.-800 DEG C. for 4 to 16 hours.
