Abstract

A titanium base alloy comprises:- .Al.2 - 4% .Mo.10 - 20% .V.10 - 20% .Si.0 - 2% .Cu.0 - 5% .Co.0 - 2% .Ni.0 - 2% .B.0 - 2% the balance, apart from impurities such as C, O and N, being titanium, up to 3% of the titanium may be replaced by an equal amount of one or more of Fe, Mn, Be, Nb, Sb, W, Bi, Zr, Sn or Cr. Examples are heated at 750 DEG C. water quenched and optionally aged at 500 DEG C. or heated at 900 DEG C. aircooled and aged at 500 DEG C.
