Abstract

1,145,931. Zirconium base alloys. ATOMIC ENERGY OF CANADA Ltd. May 4, 1967 [May 20, 1966], No.20831/67. Heading C7A. A zirconium base alloy comprises: Nb 0À5 5 - 5% Be 0À005 - 1% and optionally one or more of Sn (preferably in an amount of 0À1 - 3%), Cu (preferably in an amount of 0À05 - 1%), Fe, Cr, Mo, V, W, Ta, Ni, Y, Sb and Te, the balance, apart from incidental elements and impurities, being Zr in an amount of at least 90%. The alloy may be heated at approximately 50‹ C. below the upper critical temperature (e.g. at 830-880‹C. ), water quenched, optionally cold worked at least 15% (preferably no more than 30%), aged at 500-600‹ C. and optionally further cold worked.
