Abstract

A semi-high-speed steel comprises:- .C.0.85-1.3% .W.0.15-0.5% .V.0.75-2.0% .Cr.2.5-5.5% .Mo.2-5% .Si.up to 2.5% .Mn.up to 1% .S.up to 0.35% .Ti.up to 0.4% the balance apart from impurities and incidental ingredients (e.g. P, Cu, Ni, Nb, Ta, B, Hf, Zr, N, U, Te, Bi, Sn, As H and rare earth elements) being iron. The alloy may be austenetized at 1800 DEG F. -2050 DEG F. cooled in air or oil and double or triple tempered at 950 DEG F.-1150 DEG F.
