Abstract

An alloy steel has the following percentage composition:- .C.0.15 - 0.5 .Mn.0.25 - 3 .Si.1 - 2.5 .Mo.0.5 - 3 .Cu.1 - 3 .V.0.2 - 1 .Al.0.5 - 2 .Fe.the remainder It may be hardened at 1075 DEG C., water quenched and tempered at 500-650 DEG C. After tempering the steel may be nitrided at a temperature below the tempering temperature.
