An austenitic Cr-Ni steel having sub-eutectic boron values has the following composition:- .C.Cr.Ni.Boron .%.%.%.% .-.-.-.- .0.03.17.6.15.9.1.93 .0.04.21.4.10.0.1.96 .0.03.17.6.16.0.0.93 .0.03.21.5.10.0.0.94 The silicon content of these melts is between 0.90 and 0.97% and the Mn content between 0.74 and 0.80%.
