Abstract
Bolts for use at high temperature are formed of an alloy steel having a composition within the following range. .Cr.0.5-2.0.per cent .Mo.0.65-1.25.per cent .C.0.15-0.3.per cent .V.0.4-1.15.per cent .Mu.up to 2.0.per cent .Si.up to 2.0.per cent .Fe and impurities the remainder... The bolts may be solution treated at 1050 DEG C., oil-quenched and tempered at 700 DEG C. e.g. for 9 hours. The Provisional Specification describes also an alloy of the above composition except that the Mo range is 0.5-2 per cent, the C range is up to 0.3 per cent and the proportion of V is 3 to 5 times the C content.
