Abstract

A saw blade is made from a steel comprising: .C.0,90 to 0,99% .Si.0,20 to 0,40% .Mn.0,25 to 0,50% .Cr.3,00 to 5,00% .W.1,50 to 2,50% .Mo.0,50 to 1,50% .V.1,50 to 3,00% remainder except for impurities Fe. The blade may have a hardness in excess of Rockwell "C" 45. The steel is hardened by (1) heat-treating above 1500 DEG C, cooling and (2) tempering below 1200 DEG F., preferably (1) at 1600 DEG F. to 2200 DEG F. and (2) between 950 DEG F. and 1150 DEG F.
