Abstract
An alloy steel saw blade contains in percentage by weight: .C.0.9-0.95 .Cr.3.75-4.25 .V.2.15-2.40 .W.0.90-1.10 .Mo.1.90-2.10 .Fe and impurities.balance Manganese and silicon may be present in amounts from 0.2 to 0.4% each. The blades are fabricated in the usual way and are then soaked at 1600-1800 DEG F., and tempered at 1100-1350 DEG F., or a similar hardness may be obtained by cold-rolling. The teeth are then locally hardened by heating to 2150-2250 DEG F. for a few seconds, air quenching, and the blade is then tempered twice at 950-1050 DEG F. with intermediate and final air quenches.
