Abstract

A weldable boron-treated columbium steel consists of C 0.03 to 0.08%, Mn 0.3 to 1.0%, Si 0.02 to 0.35%, Cb 0.02 to 0.5%, B 0.003 to 0.007%, and Fe the remainder. The steel may also contain 0.04 to 0.06% V, and it may be normalized at a temperature of 1800 DEG to 2100 DEG F.
