Abstract

A steel alloy, for use as a filler material for welded joints between austenitic and ferritic steels, has the composition: - .Cr.7.0 -9.0%, .Mo.1.0 -2.5%, .C.0.12-0.25%, optionally one or more of V, W, Ti, B, Nb, Ta, N, Co up to 1.0%, Si less than 0.6%, Fe and impurities such as Mn, S and P balance. Prior disclosures of similar steel alloy include one containing 7% or 8% Cr, 3% Mo and 1% Ti and the further alloying constituents Nb, Al, V and W. Specification 843,415 is referred to.
