Abstract

A forgeable ferritic alloy steel consists of: Cr 8-16 per cent; Ni 3-6 per cent; Si 2-5 per cent; Mn 2-4 per cent; C up to 0.1 per cent; Fe, with impurities, the remainder. Ti and/or Nb may replace up to 1 per cent of the Fe. According to the Provisional Specification the alloy consists of: Cr 3-16 per cent; Ni 0.5-6 per cent; Si 1.5-6 per cent; Mn 0.5-5 per cent; C up to 0.1 per cent; Fe the substantial remainder. Nb, Ti, V or Mo, either singly or in combination, may be present up to a total of 1 per cent.
