A forgeable ferritic alloy has the following composition: C 0.03 to 0.30 per cent Cr 4 to 20 per cent W over 3 to 16 per cent V 0.1 to 2.0 per cent Nb and/or Ta 0.05 to 2.5 per cent Si 0.3 to 2.0 per cent Mn 0.5 to 4 per cent Ni 0.1 to 1.5 per cent N a spectrographic trace up to 0.25 per cent B a spectrographic trace up to 0.5 per cent Co 5 to 20 per cent Mo 0 to 3 per cent. the remainder Fe and incidental impurities.
